The Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) was implemented on 20 March 2008 as the means of allocating Australian Government subsidy to residential aged care providers.

At National Care Solutions, our Director, Ms. Lyn Turner has been involved in the evolution of this funding mechanism since the pilot began in 2005. Lyn was the major trainer, contracted to TAFE NSW for Queensland training for the implementation of the ACFI in 2007. Lyn has since trained over 3,000 aged care personnel in the use of the ACFI tool. Since 2008 one of the Lyn’s major focuses has been to assist residential aged care providers in the implementation of this important funding tool.

Lyn has also been instrumental in assisting providers to maximise their income by reviewing their ACFI applications to ensure providers are accessing all entitlements. The training delivered with this review assists in ensuring ongoing sustainability for the site.
